Methods
Deep cryogenic treatment is a dry process and
requires temperatures -300° F degrees or lower
There is no exposure to cryogenic liquids which
eliminates the risk of thermal shock
Items are cooled slowly (less than 1° per
minute)
Low temperature is held from 20 to 60 hours
Items are tempered if required
* Note: We temper afterwards
because the cryogenic treatment has a detrimental affect on the fracture toughness
(impact properties). Heating the item brings the fracture toughness back to
its original state.
